Hulu outside the US
When I found out yesterday that Hulu had released an offer for 1.9$/month for the next twelve months, I thought it was the perfect chance to get myself a subscription.
"Wow, Christmas really is the Happiest Season." I said to myself. Well, seems it isn't.
I was looking so forward to it; I wanted so bad to see High Fidelity the series; and, after seeing for a while now how Hulu had been out there making themselves a name while Netflix kept making Christmas movies featuring multiple doubles of Vanessa Hudgens, I thought it maybe was time to switch teams.
Little did I know it was not yet available outside of the USA. Oh, really? I was the only person who didn't know?
I simply don't get it. Hulu has been running since 2007, released The Handmaid's Tale in 2017 (which was a worldwide success), then was bought by Disney in 2019. And yet, somehow, they still haven't thought about releasing it worldwide?
However, I won't turn this into an excuse to complain about it, but a resource for you to find what you can still do to watch Hulu outside the US.
Exactly, I'm speaking about VPNs.
For those of you who don't know VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, which is exactly what you need to enter any platform that's not available in your country.
You won't necessarily have to pay for one, although you may end up wanting to since they have access to all your data, and most free VPNs may not have a properly configured encryption. Moreover, there are chances where these VPNs can sell your data to third party companies.
Paid VPNs cost around 13$/mo. and they offer complete protection with no log user policy.
Then, of course, not all VPNs are created equal. Each VPN has its own set of advantages and disadvantages, so you may want to do a little research on what is the one that better suits you.
One of the VPNs I've heard about most about is Express VPN, but this is not sponsored so I won't really get into details.
However, before even considering that, make sure it is legal. Some countries consider private networks including VPNs to be illegal and if your country is on the list of blocked nations, you probably shouldn't use VPN.
Sadly, if you don't want to or you can't get a VPN, the only other option left is to wait until they release it worldwide, which they say will be at some point in 2021. Although that, of course, could mean a couple more months or a whole other year.
